We need your help to recruit 15 teams and up to 55 individual males, to take part in the Glasgow 2014 Invitational Event (test event) on Saturday 24 May. It is a free to enter event, so don’t miss out your chance to race on the Glasgow 2014 course!
Invitational Day Format
There will be an individual race for men in the morning and a mixed team relay event place late in the afternoon (to allow for the pontoon to be moved into position).
The individual format comprises a 1,500 metre open-water swim; 40 kilometre road cycle and 10 kilometre run.
For the individual race, 55 male athletes are required. Entrants need to be 18 years and over on 24 May 2014, be able to complete a Standard Distance Triathlon in under 2hrs 20min and must be a member of triathlonscotland (or BTF home nation).
British Triathlon is managing the entry process and more information is available at: http:/
/. www.britishtriathlon.org/ glasgow2014/ test_event
The innovative mixed team relay format consists of two men and two women and each athlete will complete a super-sprint of: 250 metre swim; 6 kilometer cycle and a 1600 meter run.
In the order female-male-female-male, each member of the team will complete all the elements before tagging the next member of the team.
Affiliated Scottish clubs are invited to take part in the 4×4 relay format event for free! Teams must consist of two men and two women. Please note this is not a Scottish Championship event, but will help to assess if Scottish clubs would like to see the introduction of a 4×4 team relay club championship in the future.
Team relay places will be decided first by the number of clubs wishing to take part (to ensure that as far as possible we will have 15 different clubs participating). Places will be decided on a first come, first served basis. All team members must be members of triathlonscotland and aged 18, on 31 December 2014.
If there are less than 15 clubs entered entries will re-open to all clubs who can then enter more teams; again on a first come, first served basis.
Initial entries for clubs/club members will open up on Monday 3 March and will close on Monday 17 March.

There will be a 400m swim time trial on Monday 3rd March at Troon pool. Warm up from 7.30pm and the TTs will be held from 8pm-9pm.
This years’s Martin McMillan Memorial Duathlon will take place at 9.30am on Sun 16th March at the Shewalton Woods, near Irvine. Course details will be posted here later but the format will be teams of 2 drawn by the ‘handicappers’ with each team member running one lap of the woods (approx 6km) and cycling one lap (MTBs recommended as it’s mostly ‘moon dust/dirt track’). All entry fees will go to the British Heart Foundation in Martin’s memory. This race is for club members only.
