Triathlon Help

Postby Le Straws » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:39 pm

The club's annual triathlon takes place on Sunday 8th August at the usual venue at Doonfoot. To ensure the success of the event continues we need as much support from club members as possible. Please come along and help out for a few hours. If you can help with set-up we will be starting at 8am or if you can help with marshalling please report to Andy Clapperton by 10am. Remember, helping out at our races earns generous discounts on club clothing.

Please also bring along a few sandwiches, cakes etc to feed the hungry hordes. For those of you new to the club we have a reputation of providing the best post-race buffet in the land - let's not disappoint.

And finally - remember if you are competing you must provide a marshall / helper in your place.

Hope to see you there.

I'm racing, but should be dragging one of the kids (probably the big un) along to help marshal. He's 20 so should be capable.

I feel really bad, 4-5 whisky chasers and a mental night out yesterday meant I didn't make today (this is what working in Edinburgh and following Ayr Utd does to you), just hope everything went ok today.

Many thanks to all members who made it another successful race. All the positions were covered and the potential disaster area around Dunure was well marshalled to ensure everyone returned safely. The food table was again heaving and even the sun gods shone on us.

Event appeared to go extremely well. Attached is only one of several votes of gratitude:

"Many thanks for your kind sentiments Lorna. I have passed them on to my committee members whom i am sure will be equally appreciative.

Hope to see you back next year.

Regards

Andy Clapperton

I just wanted to say congratulations to you, your committee and all helpers on a fabulous event today at the Ayr Triathlon. Its my first as a spectator and my brothers 3rd (Brian Yates) as a competitor, he ended up 49th I think, we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
There is obviously a huge amount of work goes into organising this event and also training for taking part, both of these have not gone unnoticed by the spectators, Im sure. My charity has also benefited from your event through Brian & his friend Alan Grants fund raising, so Im delighted about that.
I have sent you a link to my photos.
Congratulations again.

Best Regards

Lorna
(Dalmellington) "

(PS - apologies for me forgetting to thank all the hard working marshalls and event organisers who made the day such a huge success, not least forgetting the refreshment providers, who allowed the club to maintain its ever popular reputation of providing the best post race feast in the country. Thanks also to our club sponsors for their continued support, and to the residents at Greenan for putting up with us once again.) Andy C
